shot by Jacquie + Olivia - congratulations Kristen + Russell!

Kristen and Russ’s Rockwood farm wedding was such a gorgeous day full of big laughs and many happy tears. These two are just really lovely people, who I was fortunate to connect with after shooting their friend Stefa’s wedding in 2017, where Kristen was a bridesmaid (Stefa was a bridesmaid in Kristen’s wedding too).  It’s always so nice to shoot similar groups of friends again!  Like so many other couples who had planned their wedding for 2020 though, Kristen and Russ had to postpone a number of times, so this was also a long-awaited wedding that felt very good to celebrate.

When the day finally arrived, myself and my Associate photographer Olivia noted how lucky we were to have a break in the ongoing humidity, especially because the entire wedding was mostly outdoors. It really was a beautiful day, from the weather to the venue, the decor, and all the other wonderful details they had in store. Kristen had a sweet first look with her bridesmaids and some rose champagne, followed by a big surprise when she went to find her groom for their first look. Russ is a playful guy, and he decided to ‘jazz up’ his outfit for the first look, swapping his tux for something a little more creative. After a hearty “are you kidding me” from Kristen and tears of joy from Russ when he saw her for the first time, they shared a laugh, he got changed, and the day continued on!

Their ceremony was held at the edge of a field where the grass meets the evergreen forest with the trees arching over them. Russ cried for the second time as he watched Kristen walk down the aisle, and a third as she read her vows to him. After the ceremony, their dogs came for a quick visit which was obviously a highlight for everyone. We were also lucky to have multiple opportunities to take portraits with Kristen and Russ throughout the day in many of the property’s beautiful locations. A major highlight was the evening portraits we took in the tree path below string lights and a working chandelier. The day ended with their first dance below the night sky, a cheeky dance party, and a sparkler send-off with the wedding party.
